Thomas O. Carpenter, M.D.- Director of YCXLH

Thomas O. Carpenter, MD, is Professor of Pediatrics at the Yale School of Medicine. He received his medical degree and general pediatrics training at the University of Alabama prior to fellowship training in endocrinology at Boston Children=s Hospital. Dr. Carpenter has maintained a career-long involvement in clinical research focused on metabolic bone diseases in children, and specifically on X-Linked Hypophosphatemia. He has been at Yale for over 20 years and has been very active in the Yale Bone Program throughout this time. These activities include direction of Yale’s Pediatric Metabolic Bone Disease clinic, director of the Physiology Core of the NIH-sponsored Yale Core Center for Musculoskeletal Diseases, and Associate Research Subject Advocate for pediatric studies on the YCCI. Furthermore, Dr. Carpenter has directed the Yale Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Training Program for 20 years, and serves as Clinical Director of the Pediatric Endocrinology Division. He is currently on the FDA’s Endocrine and Metabolic Drug Advisory Committee. He has authored over 100 articles, reviews, and book chapters related to his interests in metabolic bone disease in children. His major interests relate to the phosphate-wasting disorders, vitamin D metabolism, and nutritional rickets.
Karl L. Insogna, M.D.- Associate Director of YCXLH

Karl L. Insogna, MD, is a Professor in Medicine at Yale with a long-standing clinical and research interest in X-linked hypophosphatemia. He took his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Connecticut and did his clinical training in Internal Medicine at the University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital. He completed his Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Yale University after which, he joined Yale’s faculty where he has remained since. Dr. Insogna is currently the Director of the Yale Bone Center, a major treatment center for patients with metabolic bone disorders. He also directs the NIH-funded Yale Core Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders. He is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He as published extensively on the topics of skeletal health and disease. He is the Director of the YC-XLH Pilot and Feasibility Program and together with Dr. Carpenter co-directs the YC-XLH funded clinical project entitled “The role of parathyroid hormone in the pathogenesis of skeletal disease in X-linked hyphophosphatemic rickets (XLH)”.
Danielle Frank - Coordinator of YCXLH

Danielle Frank joined the Yale Center for X-linked Hypophosphatemia in November, 2006, and serves as the Center’s Administrative Coordinator. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut in Sociology and Women’s Studies. Danielle has previously coordinated vocational placement and assessment services for adults with cognitive disabilities. She manages the website you are viewing and serves as the primary contact for researchers, clinicians, and the general public interested in our work or who seek further information regarding the YC-XLH and its projects.
